Syrian Community Service Capacity Enhancement Collaborative Project


VISION:  Establishing an equitable, inclusive, welcoming and self-supportive service environment and infrastructure that engages Syrian newcomers and facilitates their integration and sustainable success in Canada.
 

MISSION:  Engaging Syrian newcomers to build successful lives in Canada by facilitating the development of a Syrian community social leadership and infrastructure in GTA that provides effective support for the Syrian community.

 

UNIQUE VALUE PROPOSITION:

  • Initiated and led by the Syrian community 

     o    Sensitive to community needs and how to deliver effectively
     o    Leverages volunteer resources within Syrian community
     o    Development of community leadership to champion the ongoing                development and delivery of community services
     o    Sustainable – “pay it forward” model with those helped becoming

           those helping after establishing themselves in Canada

  • Build the capacity of the Syrian community in service planning and delivery through talent development, organization growth and collaboration establishment.

​

  • Credibility of initiative supported by core partnerships including S.E.A.S. Centre, University of Toronto Faculty of Social Work, Syrian Community Centre of Canada and CANAL 360 Community Services

  • Other Syrian organizations, community stakeholders and volunteers will be actively involved the capacity building process

​

  • Addresses the current and long term needs and challenges for Syrian newcomers: What support do they need at the end of the first year in Canada? What are the factors enabling success and integration?
